*giveaway*

Let's celebrate the new year! Let's play! Many of you have bought one or more of these little calendars to make Christmas presents, thank you! Now what about getting one for yourself? I'm offering to send a little illustrated calendar from my shop to one reader.

To play, leave a comment to this post before Wednesday 12th January (at 10pm, GMT), and don't forget to tell me:
- the calendar version you would like (calendar #1 or calendar #2)
- if you want the French version (I'll send an English one if you don't specify anything)
- your email address so I can contact you if you win :)

Please feel free to add any story, words, cool vegan recipe, or anything else you would like to share with us.

This giveaway is open to everyone on the planet now over, thank you for playing along!

I will pick someone at random and will announce the winner on this blog on Thursday 13th January morning. Good luck!

  5. Hello Flora
    Your calendars are delicate and very cute... I'd prefer calendar#1 English version.
    I'd like to share with you some winter pictures I took last week in my town: http://ladaridari.blogspot.com/2011/01/winter-walk.html

  6. I like your phrase 'everyone on the planet' so I decided to enter. I live in Hungary and read your blog because of your summer photos. To share something, I would tell a very simple handmade Christmas gift wrapping idea. Make a medium sized pom pom (yarn) then put a piece of yarn in it. It's actually an embellished ribbon to decorate a selected gift box. The colourful pom pom decorated packages look great together. I prefer calendar #1 in English.

  11. Hello Flora,
    I love your calendars and get them every year. I have 2009 and 2010. I would prefer calendar number 1 in English. My email address is lmilburn@meca.edu

    I have been following your work through etsy and your blog. I just love your illustrations. Plus your fish are adorable as well. Have any New Years plans? Mine is to start to print my own fabric. I can't wait! :) This is the type of work I do now: thelindentree.etsy.com.
    I don't have any recipes, on positive thoughts to you and your family for the new year.
    Thanks,

  12. Flora, your calendars are super-charming! I like #2 the best (in English). Here's to a fabulous year of atmospheric photos, beautiful watercolor, and lots of good times with friends and family. And thanks for doing a giveaway! (mail@amyfarrier.com)

    As for veg recipe, I like a little red quinoa w/chopped avocado, toasted walnuts, and lemon coriander vinaigrette.

Sorry...
    Bravo pour ton travail Flora, toujours si délicat...

    2 TB organic raw cacao powder
    1 tsp agave syrup
    1 tsp raw organic coconut butter
    1 tsp raw organic coconut oil

    mix them all together and enjoy a very rich delightful treat. Mix it up with add ins like chopped nuts, bee pollen, peanut butter, fresh coconut chunks... LOVE this guilt-free treat.

    I like Calendar 1 in French.

  22. Oh thank you Flora! Would you believe that I don't even have a 2011 calendar yet? I love version 1 the most.

    My favourite vegan treat to make at the moment is cashew cream. Just soak plain, raw cashew nuts overnight in water. They will be all puffy. Then, put them in a blender until they turn into a lovely, fluffy cream. It is a great substitute for dairy cream. You can eat it plain, or you can add some vanilla pods and/or cocoa for a bit of flavour. Or whatever you like! I think I want to eat some now!

  23. I really like both calendars, but #2 has a certain "je ne sais quoi" about it! Mmm, that cashew cream above sounds lovely! shaniestozek at hotmail.com

  27. hi flora
    Love them both, but I think im going for #1 in english or french. Its very hard for me to do that style my art is very abstract no structure, it's so delicate I love the simplicity.
    vegan recipe? i can give you the recipe of what im making for tonights dinner. There both fast and easy.

    Smokey BlackBean Quinoa Soup

    *2 diced red peppers
    *1 diced onion
    *few garlic cloves
    *3 medium tomatoes
    *olive oil
    *cumin
    *cilantro
    *chipotle *for the smokey spicy
    *2 cans of organic black beans
    *1/2 or 1 cup of cooked quinoa ( i cook it separate )
    *water

    toss all veggies and garlic in a bowl with olive oil, salt
    put in a baking try roast at 400
    till done about 20 min
    In a pot add beans and roasted veggies add the cumin,chipotle, add water about 1 cup. Simmer on medium for 10 min so the flavours marry.
    Add to the food processor and blend.
    Return to the pot, if to thick add more water adjust salt, add the cooked quinoa garnish with chopped cilantro.
    * I make this often and its delicious every time.

    Chocolate Cake with Ganache Icing

    (* not that i need this after the holidays but i promised my daughter id make it tonight)

    * 1 1/2 cups Unbleached Flour
    * 1 1/2 cups Demerara Sugar ( brown) ive also used raw sugar
    * 1/2 cup Cocoa
    * 1 1/2 tsp Baking Soda
    * 3/4 tsp Baking Powder
    * 1 tsp Salt
    * 3/4 cup Coffee (or water)
    * 3/4 cup) Soy Milk, plain or chocolate
    * 1/3 cup Vegetable Oil

    1. Preheat oven to 325′ and grease a pan. (Im not sure the size)
    2. In a large bowl, stir to combine (so there aren’t any lumps) flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
    3. In a smaller bowl combine coffee, soy milk and oil.
    4. Add wet to dry and mix well.
    5.Then bake for 25 minutes or until an inserted knife comes out clean.
    6. When the cake is cool, make the icing.

    Ganache

    about 250 grams of chopped dark chocolate
    1/2 cup of soya milk or soy creamer

    place the chocolate in a bowl
    *heat the milk but don't let it boil, pour it over the chocolate . Mix till chocolate is melted. Let it rest for 10 min room temp.
    i like to pour it over the cake

    * I hope I did a good job in the recipes.
    thank god for spell check!

    enjoy

  40. Flora, hi!

    I’d be so thrilled to have one of your calendars! Should I win the giveaway, calendar # 2, in French, please.

    By way of sharing something in return, I offer the following verse – so appropriate tonight as we await snow here. Amazing how waking up to a fresh snowfall can turn a jaded grown-up into a delighted child. Can't wait!

    “Winter came down to our home one night
    Quietly pirouetting in on silvery-toed slippers of snow,
    And we, we were children once again.”
    ~Bill Morgan, Jr.

    Bonne nuit,

    I love that people write comments in english even though they're French :-)
    Have you ever tried making your own granola? It is really easy and cheap, and it is vegan (I looked up the word in a dictionary to be sure of what it meant exactly). There's a really nice recipe in Breakfast Lunch Tea by Rose Carrarini (and you can find the recipe on the Internet really easily).
