Our home. I like it, it feels good and cosy. Still want to move, though. The other day a good friend said I'm completely unstable, which I like.
Beautiful things on the walls include Anna Emilia's print, Hanna Konola's screen prints and one of my mum's paintings.

ReplyDeleteI love these little peeks into your place. The kitchen really caught my eye; I love seeing how others arrange their shelves, and I love the warmth of the wood and all of the pretty colors on yours. It looks like a very nice place to spend time.
What is the little wooden box with a mesh front on the countertop?
Is it a place for keeping garlic, shallots, etc...?

ReplyDeleteAnna > yes, it's called a 'garde-manger' -'meat safe', although we don't eat meat :) That's where we put the fruits and vegetables that usually attract insects and such. It's also a good way to organise our food.
Thanks, Flora! It's such a pretty thing, aside from the fact that it's useful. Those are the best kinds of objects.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I can find a garde-manger here in the southeastern u.s.
One piece of furniture similar to this that southern cooks always had (in 19th and early 20th century) was what they called a pie safe, which was kind of like an armoire (big!) with wire mesh, so that the pies could cool, untouched by insects and other things.
