Today has been successful in terms of shopping. I found lovely fabrics and buttons in a very nice -and expensive- shop (details tomorrow), a little dress for next week wedding, some paper and other material on sale, and I also received the equipment (scanner, printer) I ordered yesterday morning and everything's installed now. So quick! On top of that I discovered this sign on a wall and I'm happy.
Two days ago we heard our landlord wanted to rise the rent by 10% and we think it's way too much. We have decided to negotiate but we have also come to the conclusion that if this happens we are going back to France within the next two months, which would be quite a quick change of life! We were thinking of moving but not that soon. We should see someone at the estate agency tomorrow morning, and see what they say... Life is funny. Anyway I'm happy whatever happens.
Almost week-end already. Ha!

feet
It's crazy the time you can spend on the internet looking for a camera. Which one is the best? Is a reflex a better option than a compact? How much is it reasonable to spend? I'll leave it to later as my head needs a break.
I hope your week is good, mine is quite relaxing -apart from the search for a camera!
fresh ideas

Not very related to today's weather...
Tonight a friend came over and we had a great conversation about projects and creation. He writes poetry. He reminded us that a writer only fails if he does not write. And this is valid for any one else. It was good to hear, especially for my man who has simple but brilliant things to say but hasn't found enough motivation yet to start writing a paper (he will soon start his 3rd and last year PhD in environmental policy). Let's play the game and start concretise our ideas.

thinking
I have quickly updated my illustration page and my Flickr with previous things, now you can see them bigger. As you can see I happily borrowed Alice in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass chapters titles to name my Flickr sets.
I have made up my mind on the new equipment I am going to buy soon (scanner/printer) and can't wait to have it. I also need to look for a good camera, any suggestion would help!
Thank you Nicole (Freshly{blended}) for your sweet post about me! And thank you all for your nice comments, it's very encouraging -especially when you want to get back to work.
Have a great week everyone!

new fish

I have just started making fish out of different pieces of fabric I found. I am now looking for wool to fill them in and thick thread to embroider some of them.
Do you know designer Oscar Lhermitte? His 334 bench is very clever and looks great, too.
I need to buy a good digital camera before October. What is the one you use? Anything to recommend/avoid?
Have a nice evening now.

help
I am launching a brainstorm:
how to call the man you love/live/are married with when speaking about him.
Please send your ideas in the comments!!
Many thanks.
embroidery [for Tony Papin]

My man wore this shirt for our wedding. I had drawn a few flowers on it. Pretty simple, but he looked great.
Today we lied in the grass and watched the sky.

skies, lines and melodies

(see these pictures and more, bigger, here)
Today I looked for fabric to make a dress but didn't find anything right. I also walked in the neighbourhood looking for a mailbox and took a few pictures of things I had in mind for quite a long time. Taking pictures while listening to music (like Datarock with Fa fa fa -so good!- merci Cédric) is exciting, it feels like the world is my playground.
Look at this great to-do list (via Team Forty): edit the list and make it yours, then feel the satisfaction of clicking the done button, and the even greater satisfaction of seeing you have done everything. I love the idea.
I also like these characters for an epic tale from Tom Gauld (via ffffound). I love the way he classifies characters and elements.
And last thing for today, I have just heard Bullets from Tunng on the radio and I love this song (discovered it a few months ago and completely forgot about it). There's something so sweet and nostalgic about it.
Now have a sweet evening -we just had strawberries!
Sweet fish

I still have many things to do regarding our wedding, like sort out the tons of pictures I get from our guests and send little cards to thank everyone ; but I found time to make these little fish today, and I'm glad I did (they're good!). I don't have any cookie cutter but I tend to like their rough shapes.
I don't know if I want to publish wedding pictures or not. I don't like the usual photo albums and find it boring. Tough decision. We had an amazing week-end though! I think I could actually draw it to explain what happened.
Now we are planning our honey moon: Sahara via Italy. We don't fly so we have decided to go by train from Paris. First stop in Rome, then Sicily, Tunis, and South Tunisia desert. Then back via Sicily again and last stop in Venice for a few days. We are very excited!!

Mrs Douville
Hi everyone and thank you for your kind messages! I am now married and happy. I have been very busy before the wedding getting ready but also after, but I am back in London and eager to get back on track! Have a lovely evening!

I have no time at all to do anything not related to the wedding, so see you after the 12th!
Have a lovely week.

[picture from last night]
We have lovely colours here in the evening. We are now expecting storms over the night. The husband-to-be has just arrived. Hope your week goes well.

good night
Today has been about painting signs, making a box and organising. I wish I had more things to show but I'm just walking around in old scrubs and working here and there. Tomorrow I'm out all day for: work (I have accepted to do a colour test), shopping and picking up the groom from the train! Ha.
I like this funny concept of pens colouring your dress (via Daily Poetics).
