Honeymoon (08)

(bigger pictures here)

From Tunis, we went to Tozeur via bus, and then to Douz, and finally took a collective taxi to Sabria, a village near the desert. There we were expected by people whose heart is bigger than anything. We went away into the desert for the first dinner and night with 2 guides and 4 camels, and there we spent 5 days, walking slowly between the sand dunes and on the small rocks.

The sun was strong but mild compared to Summer, and the sand is so soft and fine it feels like flour. The best feeling is to walk barefoot in the fresh sand when the day starts to get hot. The desert is also full of little creatures like lizards, big and small, ants, beetles, mice, jerboa, fennecs, hares, jackals, birds... Most of them have a sand colour and hide in the sand. The best thing is that the sand is so fine that the slightest insect leaves traces behind itself, so in the morning when you get up and look around the camp, you can see traces of beetles, lizards, mice and small little things everywhere around, and it looks incredible, a bit like a giant map with lots of different roads. I loved it.

More pictures and details tomorrow.

I hope you are all having a great week, we are visiting lots of flats. Thank you for your comments, I enjoy them a lot!
